Visual standards platform

Murphy Group's safety standards cover the activities that matter most on their sites, from working at height to piling. We turned those standards into short 3D animations on our Visual Standards platform, so the correct way to do the work can be understood at a glance rather than read in a document.

The challenge

Safety standards across the industry live in written documents. They are thorough, but a written standard asks a busy site team to translate paragraphs into a mental picture of the job, and engagement with long documents is widely recognised as low.

Murphy saw the opportunity to communicate visually. They wanted each standard to show the correct control clearly and quickly, in a format teams would actually use, and came to us to make it happen.

What we built

Each standard is a short animation built in clean 3D, showing the task being done right: the correct setup, the correct controls, the correct sequence. The library now covers around 15 standards and growing, including working at height, in-situ concrete pours, service avoidance, van practices, risk assessment, lifting operations, and piling.

The animations live on the Visual Standards platform, where teams browse and play them on any device. A usage dashboard, running since January 2025, gives Murphy sessions, unique users, and most-viewed standards, so they can see which standards are being reached for and where to invest next.

The platform has since been extended beyond Murphy's own business to one of its joint ventures.

The outcome

The platform is live and in regular use, with the dashboard tracking engagement since January 2025 and the standards library still growing. Extending it to a joint venture took the same content to a wider delivery team without rebuilding anything.
